Jean-MarieVergé is the son of two very unusual burgundy producers, Gilles and Catherine Vergé, that produce beautiful Chardonnay in Macconais.
Since March 2009 Jean-Marie has been operating 2 hectares and renting 16, which is just enough for producing wine under the label of Beaujolais Village.
His first harvest in 2009 was affected by several hail incidents, but Jean-Marie still describes the wine as pretty, but somehow not "enough".
Being raised by two very talented vignerons Jean-Marie has a big advantage. He knows that mother nature is not always with you and she does what she wants. None of the less Jean-Marie refuses to add or take anything from the wine, to highlight the qualities of the terroir as much as possible. He doesn’t use pesticides, fertilizer or weed killer. Nor does he filtrated or use sulfur. For Jean-Marie wine should be wine; not a label!
